Texecom Premier Elite — SmartCom Installation & Setup

Purpose

This guide covers the installation and initial setup of the Texecom SmartCom communicator on a Premier Elite panel. The SmartCom provides internet connectivity for the Texecom Connect app, remote Wintex access, and ARC signalling via Texecom Monitor.

1. SmartCom Models

ModelPart NumberConnectivity
SmartComCEL-0001Ethernet + Wi-Fi (2.4GHz)
SmartCom 4GCEL-0007Ethernet + Wi-Fi + 4G (eSIM)

The SmartCom 4G (CEL-0007) is the standard choice at Wilsons — the built-in eSIM provides 4G as a backup path if broadband fails. No physical SIM card is required; the eSIM is pre-provisioned and managed by Texecom Cloud.

The SmartCom (CEL-0001) is Ethernet/Wi-Fi only — no 4G backup. Only use this where a backup comms path is not required.

Minimum firmware required:

  • SmartCom CEL-0001: panel firmware V4.01+
  • SmartCom 4G CEL-0007: panel firmware V5.04+

If upgrading an older panel to add a SmartCom, check the panel firmware version first. A firmware upgrade may be required before the SmartCom will be detected.

2. Physical Connection to the Panel

The SmartCom connects using two connectors on the Premier Elite board:

ConnectorWhere it plugsPanel programming
4-wire (black)COM Port 1Must be set to "SmartCom"
2-wireCOM Port 2Must be set to "ComIP"

Important wiring notes

  • When inserting the 4-wire connector, the yellow wire must be on the upper right-hand side
  • Do not extend the supplied cables — extending them can prevent the SmartCom from functioning and breaks OTA firmware upgrade capability
  • The SmartCom is powered directly from the panel — no separate power supply is required

Panels with limited COM ports

Premier Elite 24, 48, 88, and 168 have two COM ports natively. If a third COM port is needed for another device (e.g. a keypad expander on COM3), fit a Premier Elite ComPort+ adapter. The Premier Elite 640 has three COM ports built in.

3. Network Connection

Ethernet (preferred)

Connect an Ethernet cable from the SmartCom's RJ45 port to the customer's broadband router. The SmartCom uses DHCP by default — no static IP configuration is needed in most installations.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi can be configured via Wintex or the Texecom Cloud portal after the SmartCom is connected and online via Ethernet. Set up Ethernet first, then switch to Wi-Fi if required.

4G (CEL-0007 only)

The 4G path is automatic — no configuration needed. The eSIM connects to Texecom's mobile network when the IP path is unavailable. Check the 4G LED after installation to confirm the eSIM has registered.

Port forwarding on the customer's router is not required. The SmartCom connects outbound to Texecom Cloud, which acts as a relay.

4. Programming the COM Ports in Wintex

After physically connecting the SmartCom, configure the COM ports in Wintex:

  1. Connect Wintex to the panel
  2. Go to Communications → Com Port Setup
  3. Set COM1 to: SmartCom
  4. Set COM2 to: ComIP
  5. Upload to panel

If using a ComPort+ adapter, COM3 will appear and can be assigned to other devices.

5. SmartCom LED Status

Check the LEDs on the SmartCom after installation to confirm connectivity:

LEDStatusMeaning
Cloud LEDOffNo cloud connection

Wi-Fi LEDOffWi-Fi not in use

All four LEDs flash simultaneously during a factory reset.

Target state after installation: Cloud LED solid. Ethernet or Wi-Fi LED solid, 4G LED solid (CEL-0007). If the Cloud LED is not solid within 2–3 minutes of connecting, see Comms & SmartCom Faults.

6. Texecom Cloud — Adding the Site

After the SmartCom has cloud connectivity (Cloud LED solid):

  1. Log into your Texecom installer account at cloud.texe.com
  2. Click Add Site
  3. Enter the site name, address, and panel type
  4. The panel will appear online — confirm it shows as connected

7. Texecom Connect App — Customer Setup

The Texecom Connect app gives the customer remote arm/disarm and notifications.

  1. In the panel (via Wintex or keypad engineer menu), generate an App Code: Engineer Utilities → Connect → Generate App Code
  2. Give the customer the app code and ask them to install the Texecom Connect V2 app (iOS or Android)
  3. The customer creates a Texecom Cloud account and enters the app code to link their panel
  4. Users can also be invited by email — they receive credentials and link to the site without needing the app code

8. Post-Installation Checks

  • Cloud LED solid on SmartCom
  • Site showing online in Texecom Cloud portal
  • Remote Wintex connection tested (connect via Cloud in Wintex)
  • Panel event log accessible remotely
  • Texecom Connect app connected and showing correct status (if customer has app)
  • ARC signalling configured and tested if required (see ARC Registration)
