Texecom Premier Elite — Reset & Default Procedures
Purpose
Covers the three reset/default procedures you'll need on Texecom Premier Elite systems: SmartCom factory reset, engineer code default, and full panel factory reset.
Procedure 1 — SmartCom Factory Default
When to use: When connecting a SmartCom that has been used on a previous installation. Always default before re-using on a new system — this erases previous data and ensures a clean connection to the new panel.
Note: Default procedure is only available on SmartCom Version 2.1 and above. Check the version label on the unit before proceeding.
Steps
- Connect the SmartCom communicator to the panel
- Remove the lid of the SmartCom communicator
- Press and release the yellow button on the SmartCom communicator 5 times
The SmartCom will reset and all previous configuration will be erased. It is now ready to connect to the Premier Elite control panel and register as a new installation.
Procedure 2 — Default the Engineer Code
When to use: When the engineer code is unknown (e.g. taking over a previously installed system) and you need to regain programming access.
Method A — Via Wintex (preferred, if panel is accessible)
- Connect to the panel via Wintex using a direct USB or IP connection
- In Wintex, navigate to: Panel → Access Codes → Engineer Code
- Set the engineer code to the required value
- Write changes to panel
Method B — Hardware default (tamper/jumper method)
Use this only if you cannot access via Wintex and the engineer code is locked out.
- Power down the panel completely (remove mains, disconnect battery)
- Locate the ENGRESET jumper on the panel PCB (position varies by panel — refer to the specific panel installation manual)
- Short the jumper / hold the reset button while restoring power
- The engineer code will reset to the factory default: 1234
- Remove the jumper before the panel completes boot
- Log into engineer menu with code 1234 and set a new engineer code immediately
Important: After defaulting the engineer code, always set a new code before leaving site. Never leave a system with the default code 1234.
Procedure 3 — Full Panel Factory Default
When to use: When a panel needs to be completely wiped — all programming, zones, users, and history erased. Use as a last resort (e.g. taking over an unknown system where programming is locked and inaccessible).
A full factory default deletes everything. All zones, users, areas, and settings will need to be reprogrammed from scratch. This cannot be undone.
Method A — Via Wintex
- Connect to the panel via Wintex
- Navigate to: Panel → Utilities → Factory Default
- Confirm the default when prompted
- Panel will reboot with all settings cleared
- Recommission from scratch using the Initial Setup Procedure
Method B — Hardware default
- Power down the panel completely (mains and battery)
- Locate the factory reset contact/jumper on the PCB (refer to the specific model's installation manual for exact location — position differs across Premier Elite 24/48/88/168/640)
- Hold the reset contact short while restoring power
- Keep held until the keypad displays the startup/language selection screen
- Release — the panel is now at factory default
- Recommission from scratch
Summary
| Procedure | When to use | Destructive? |
|---|---|---|
| SmartCom factory default | Re-using a SmartCom from a previous install | SmartCom config only |
| Engineer code default | Lost/unknown engineer code | Code reset only — all programming retained |
| Full panel factory default | Unknown system, locked out of all access | Everything wiped — full recommission needed |
