Texecom Premier Elite — User Code Setup
Purpose
This guide covers adding, editing, and deleting user codes on the Premier Elite, both via the keypad and via Wintex. It includes the default codes, user types, and the handover process.
1. Default Codes (Factory Settings)
| User | Number | Default Code |
|---|---|---|
| Engineer | 00 | 1234 |
| Master User | 01 | 1234 |
| UDL Password (Wintex) | — | 1234 |
Change all default codes on every new installation before handover. A system handed over with default codes is insecure.
2. User Types
| Type | Name | What they can do |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Engineer | Full programming access. Not used for normal arming/disarming. |
| 1 | Master | Arm/disarm all areas, add/edit/delete users, full keypad menu access |
| 2 | Manager | Arm/disarm, most keypad menus — cannot manage users |
| 3 | Standard | Arm/disarm assigned areas, limited menu access |
| 4 | Local | Arms/disarms only the local keypad's assigned area |
| 5 | Duress | Triggers a silent panic when entered — used on Grade 3+ systems only |
| 6 | Arm Only | Can arm and reset — cannot disarm |
| 7 | Door Strike | Activates door unlock outputs only |
| 8 | Vacation | Automatically deleted once the Master User disarms after an arm — single-use access |
| 9 | Custom | Fully configurable individual permissions |
For a typical domestic install:
- User 01 = Master User (Type 1) — customer's primary code
- Users 02 onward = Standard (Type 3) — family members, keyholders
3. Code Specifications
- Codes are 4, 5, or 6 digits
- Codes must be unique — no two users can share a code
- The system allows a mixture of code lengths across users
4. Adding/Editing Users via Keypad (Master User)
The Master User can add and edit other users from the keypad without engineer access:
- Enter the master user code and press Menu
- Navigate to Setup Users (use arrow keys), press Yes
- Enter the user number to add or edit (e.g. 02), press Yes
- Enter the new code for that user, confirm
- Select the user type (1–9)
- Select which areas the user can access
- Optionally enter a user name (shown on keypad event log)
- Press Yes to save
Deleting a user via keypad
Navigate to the user number and delete their code (enter a blank code when prompted) or follow the delete option in the Setup Users menu.
5. Managing Users via Wintex (Recommended for Initial Setup)
Wintex is faster for setting up multiple users and gives access to additional options:
- In Wintex, go to Programming → Users
- Each row represents a user: number, code, type, areas, time lock, name, door strike, proximity tag
- Click a user to edit — enter the code, select type, tick areas, enter a name
- To delete a user, clear their code field
- Upload to panel when done
Additional Wintex user options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Time Lock | Restricts the user to specific days/hours — useful for cleaners or contractors |
| Proximity Tag | Links the user to a Texecom proximity keyfob for keyless arming/disarming |
| Door Strike | Allows the user to activate a door unlock output |
6. Changing the Engineer Code
The engineer code should be changed on every installation. The customer should never know the engineer code.
Via keypad engineer menu:
- Enter engineer mode (see Engineer Code)
- Navigate to Engineer Utilities → Change Engineer Code
- Enter the new code and confirm
Via Wintex:
- Go to Programming → Users → User 00 → change the code field → upload
Record the engineer code in a secure location accessible to Wilsons but not the customer. If the code is lost, follow the reset procedure in Engineer Code.
7. Customer Handover — User Code Checklist
Before leaving site:
- Master User code changed from default 1234 to a customer-chosen code
- Engineer code changed from default 1234 to the Wilsons engineer code
- UDL password changed in Wintex (if different from engineer code)
- Customer shown how to arm and disarm on the keypad
- Customer shown how to change their own code (if they want to)
- Customer given the master user guide (Texecom INS177)
- Any additional user codes set up for keyholders
