Heatmiser Thermostat Installation
The Heatmiser Neo System
Heatmiser Neo is Wilsons' specialist heating controls platform. The system is modular — each thermostat communicates wirelessly to the neoHub, which provides app control and integrates with Control4.
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| neoStat V2 | Mains-powered wired thermostat — previous generation. Still in use on many sites. |
| neoStat V3 | Current model mains-powered wired thermostat — same wiring as V2, updated display and software. |
| neoAir | Battery-powered wireless thermostat — pairs with a UH8-RF or a neoAir receiver. Ideal where no mains cable is available at the thermostat position. |
| neoHub | System gateway — connects to the router via ethernet, wirelessly links all stats, provides the Heatmiser Neo app. |
| UH8-RF | 8-zone wireless wiring centre for underfloor heating — controls UFH zone valves and boiler from wireless neoAir commands. |
neoStat V2 / V3 — Wiring
The neoStat V2 and V3 use identical terminal wiring:
| Terminal | Connection |
|---|---|
| N | Neutral (blue) |
| L | Permanent live (brown) |
| SL | Switched live output — to zone valve motor live or boiler demand |
The neoStat replaces a conventional room thermostat. It requires a permanent live, a neutral, and a switched live output to switch heating demand.
On a combi boiler: Connect SL to the boiler's RT/TH terminals.
On an S-plan system: Connect SL to the live input of the relevant zone valve motor.
On an ASHP system: Connect SL to the heat pump's demand input contacts.
The neoStat fits a standard single gang back box — 25mm minimum depth recommended.
neoStat — Pairing to neoHub
After wiring and powering the neoStat:
- On the neoHub, press the pair button on the rear
- On the neoStat — Settings → Network → Pair
- The stat searches for and connects to the neoHub — up to 60 seconds
- Once paired, the stat appears in the Heatmiser Neo app under the hub
- Assign the zone name in the app (e.g. "Lounge", "Master Bedroom")
If pairing fails: confirm the neoStat is within wireless range of the neoHub (max ~100m open air, less through walls). Move the hub temporarily closer to pair if needed.
neoAir — Wireless Thermostat
The neoAir is battery-powered and communicates wirelessly to either:
- UH8-RF wiring centre — for UFH zones (no separate receiver needed)
- neoAir receiver — wired in place of the old thermostat; provides the switched live output
Pairing neoAir to UH8-RF:
- On the UH8-RF, select the zone to pair and press the zone button until the LED flashes
- On the neoAir — Settings → Pair
- Connection confirmed by LED on UH8-RF
- Assign the zone name in the Heatmiser app
Battery life: typically 1–2 years on 3× AA alkaline batteries.
neoHub — Installation & Setup
The neoHub connects to the customer's router via ethernet cable — Wi-Fi is not supported. Place it within ethernet cable reach of the router and within wireless range of all stats.
Setup:
- Connect neoHub to router via ethernet
- Power the neoHub via the supplied USB power supply
- Download the Heatmiser Neo app (iOS or Android)
- In the app — Add Hub → scan the QR code on the underside of the hub
- Wait for the hub to come online (up to 2 minutes — solid LED)
- All paired neoStats and neoAirs appear automatically
- Name each zone and configure heating schedules
Customer handover — share hub access:
- In the app — Settings → Share Hub → Invite User
- Enter the customer's email address
- Customer installs the Heatmiser Neo app and accepts the invite
- They can then view temperatures, adjust targets, and set schedules from anywhere
Common Issues
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| neoStat not pairing to hub | Check stat is within range; confirm hub is online (solid LED); hold pair button on hub then pair from stat |
| Boiler not firing when stat calls | Check switched live output is wired correctly; check zone valve wiring if S-plan |
| neoHub not appearing in app | Confirm ethernet is connected and router is online; check hub LED — solid = online, flashing = connecting |
| neoAir battery warning | Replace batteries — use branded alkaline cells |
| Stat showing "offline" in app | Hub may have lost internet connection; check router; cycle power on hub |
