User Management — Texecom Premier Elite
Purpose
This document covers how to add, edit, and remove users on a Texecom Premier Elite panel — PINs, key fob tags, user types, and area access. User management is one of the most common tasks during handover and service visits.
User Structure on Premier Elite
The Premier Elite supports up to 1,000 users (depending on model). Each user has:
- A user number (slot in the system)
- A PIN code (4 or 6 digits — set per system during commissioning)
- Optionally, a tag (Ricochet key fob or proximity token)
- A user type (defines what they can do)
- Area access (which areas of the system they can arm/disarm)
User Types
| User Type | Access Level |
|---|---|
| Master | Full access — can add/delete users, change PINs, access all areas |
| User | Can set/unset areas they're assigned to; cannot add other users |
| Manager | Can add/delete standard users; cannot access engineer menu |
| Engineer | Full programming access (Wilsons use only) |
| Guard | Can only acknowledge alarms, not set or unset |
| Cleaner | Can unset and reset specific areas; typically limited to certain times |
| Remote | Used for remote arm/disarm via SmartCom or app |
For most residential installs: The customer gets one Master user (for the householder), and additional User slots for family members.
Adding a New User
Via Wintex
Wintex → Users → Add User
- Select the user slot (next available number)
- Enter a name for the user
- Set the user type
- Enter the PIN (must match the configured PIN length — 4 or 6 digits)
- Assign area access (tick which areas the user can arm/disarm)
- Save
Via the Keypad
Menu → Engineer → Users → Add User
- Select the next available user slot
- Enter the new PIN
- Confirm PIN
- Set user type and area access
- Confirm
Editing a User's PIN
Via Wintex
Wintex → Users → select user → change PIN field → Save
Via the Keypad (Master User)
A Master user can change their own PIN and any standard user's PIN:
Menu → User → Change PIN → enter current PIN → enter new PIN → confirm
This can be done by the customer without engineer access — useful when they forget a PIN or want to change it.
Deleting a User
Via Wintex
Wintex → Users → select user → Delete
Via the Keypad
Menu → Engineer → Users → select user → Delete User → confirm
Deleting a user also removes their key fob tag — the tag will no longer operate the system.
Assigning a Key Fob / Tag
Ricochet key fobs and proximity tokens can be assigned to users as an alternative to (or in addition to) a PIN.
Via Wintex
Wintex → Users → select user → Tag → Learn Tag
The system enters tag learning mode. Present the key fob or tag to the keypad reader. The tag serial number is captured and assigned to the user.
Via the Keypad
Menu → Engineer → Users → select user → Tag → Learn
Present the tag to the keypad reader — the reader beeps to confirm.
Each user can only have one tag assigned. If a new tag is learned for a user, the old one is overwritten.
Removing a Key Fob
Wintex → Users → select user → Tag → Delete
Or via keypad: Menu → Engineer → Users → select user → Tag → Delete
Remove fobs immediately when a user leaves (staff turnover, end of tenancy, etc.) to prevent unauthorised access.
Areas and Access
Premier Elite panels can be divided into multiple areas (up to 16 on larger models). Each area is an independently settable section of the system.
When adding a user, tick which areas they should have access to. A cleaner might only access the ground floor area; a manager might have all areas.
PIN Code Length and Duress
PIN length is set during commissioning — 4 or 6 digits. All user PINs must match this length. This is set in: Wintex → Panel Setup → PIN Length
Duress PIN: A modified version of the user's normal PIN that disarms the system but silently sends a duress signal to the monitoring centre. Requires ARC monitoring to be active.
Handover — What to Tell the Customer
- Give them their Master user number and PIN — confirm they can set and unset the system
- Show them how to change their PIN from the keypad (User → Change PIN)
- Explain the difference between their PIN and the engineer code — they should not share the engineer code
- Add any additional users they need before you leave
- Assign key fobs if supplied — confirm each fob operates the system before leaving
Common Issues
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Customer forgot their PIN | Access with engineer code → reset their PIN via Wintex or keypad user menu |
| User can only set/unset some areas | Check the user's area access — ensure all required areas are ticked |
| Key fob not working | Confirm fob is assigned to a user; check Ricochet signal strength; re-learn the fob |
| "User full" when adding | Panel has reached the user limit — check for old/unused users that can be deleted |
| Panel rejects new PIN | PIN may be wrong length, or same as an existing user PIN — try a different number |
